Travis Wimbush, 39, decided to run for mayor because “Blakely needs a mayor that will work for the people and bring the voice of the people back to City Hall. Blakely needs a new voice that will be fair, firm and consistent in all decisions made.”
Issues he plans to address include: lack of open communications and transparency, community policing, more affordable housing, recreation and education activities for youth, more grants that benefit all citizens, lack of neighborhood watch programs, economic development and infrastructure.
Travis is a 1998 graduate of Early County High School. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force as security police. He is currently employed by Georgia Pacific in Cedar Springs and Wakefield Mortuary in Arlington and Albany.
He is the son of Beverly Wimbush Cosby and the late Lynell Jackson. He is the father of Karter McCoy. His siblings are Kevin Patterson, and the late Herkimiah Wimbush and Chris Patterson.
