Power Pole Replacement

Blakely Electric Crew in action again.

A storm came thru here a couple weeks age with a lot of wind that broke the top of a pole on MLK Jr Bypass. The top of the pole contained a complicated array of lines and equipment that was going to require turning off power to the surrounding business in the area.

So our electric crew decided to use a pole truck to hold the top of the pole in place until a safer time to replace it. That time was this past Saturday from 9:00am till 4:00pm. 

Our Electric Crew planned the best time that power could be shut down with minimal impact on the surrounding businesses, replaced the old style pole with a very complicated (read dangerous) setup with a new, tall, pole moving all the power lines higher up in a vertical arrangement (much safer).
